Two sexual assault cases are currently under investigation by the IU Police Department.
A 19-year-old female student reported being sexually assaulted at 3:17 a.m. Saturday while in a car with three white males. She met the three males at a party at an off-campus house near Seventh and Bryan streets, according to an IUPD press release.
The driver said he was an IU student while the other two said they were visiting from Purdue University, according to the press release.
While they were driving the female to another party, she said the driver sexually assaulted her, according to the press release. The driver is described to be about 20 years old, about 250 pounds and 6 feet 2 inches tall, muscularly built and with a scruffy beard and whiskers, according to the press release.
The second incident was reported to IUPD around 10:18 p.m. Saturday. An 18-year-old female student reported she was sexually assaulted around 4:30 p.m., according to a press release. The press release also stated the woman met three males near Kirkwood Avenue and Dunn Street — two white males and one black male.
IUPD Chief Keith Cash said there is no reason to believe the assaults are related. In both cases, how the women were assaulted is unclear.
If anyone has any information or thinks he or she was a witness to either incident, IUPD asks that they call
812-855-4111.
