Gov. Daniels announces new Indiana Supreme Court justice

On Friday, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels appointed Boone County Circuit Court Judge Steven David as the newest member of the Indiana Supreme Court.

David will replace Justice Theodore R. Boehm, who is planning to retire from the court at the end of this month.

Daniels cited David’s experience on the bench and decorated military career as two of the reasons for his appointment.

Daniels also noted David’s “boundaries of judicial decision making,” according to a press release.

“He will be a judge who interprets rather than invents our laws,” Daniels said in the press release.

David, 53, has been a judge in Boone County since 1995 and has served on the board of directors for the Zionsville and Lebanon Boys and Girls Clubs.

Marion Superior Court Judge Robyn L. Moberly and Karl L. Mulvaney, a partner in an Indianapolis based law firm, were the two other finalists.
