Cyclist hit by car on Fee Lane

Bike Accident

At about 3:15 p.m., a female student — biking northbound on Fee Lane — was struck by a car. The accident took place near the Kelley School of Business.

The cyclist is responsive, but had cuts on both of her knees and one elbow when she was taken to Bloomington Hospital shortly after the incident. The driver, a man with New York state plates, was heading eastbound on 11th street when he hit the cyclist crossing the intersection. The driver said he got out of the car, helped the woman and offered to drive her to the hospital before the IU Police Department arrived. He did not give his name.

IUPD Chief of Police Keith Cash said the accident seems to be the cyclists fault, given she was riding on the sidewalk and traveling on the wrong side of the road. An official police report has yet to be released.
