New IMU outdoor patio completed

New Patio

After a 7 week construction project, the new outdoor seating area located in front of Dunn Meadow Cafe in the Indiana Memorial Union was completed Wednesday with the addition of new wooden benches, chairs and tables.

The construction project was undertaken by just four men from Campus Divison: Troy Carter, Tristan Johnston, Tim Sowders and Carlos Webb. The patio area was created because of the the IMU’s desire to expand outdoor seating, Gary Chrzastowski, the assistant director of Facility Services at the IMU, said.

Since the renovation of Dunn Meadow Cafe was completed in the spring, the area right outside of the cafe seemed like a logical spot to create the patio, Chrzastowski said.

In addition to new seating, the area also features a fire pit. The new space is open for groups to reserve for meetings and events. The first event that took place in the new area was the annual Welcome Week event “Taste of the Union.”
