IU neutron research recently received a $5 million dollar grant from the National Institute for Standards and Technology.
The grant will support the combined efforts of IU’s Low Energy Neutron Source and NIST’s National Center for Neutron Research in Maryland.
Nearly $1 million will be allotted each year throughout the next five years to fund the neutron-scattering technologies that the two organizations focus on.
Neutron scattering is a process involving the interaction of neutron beams with various other materials to determine molecule size and make up.
The grant is designed to foster new techniques and research strategies associated with the process.
