For the third consecutive year, the Indiana Arts Commission will accept applications for the Arts in Education Projects grant program.
“The program is developed to support curriculum needs, impact students’ engagement and performance and help schools develop long-term commitments to arts in the classroom,” said Susan Britsch, Indiana Arts Commission community development manager and arts education coordinator.
Information and guidelines will be posted today at www.in.gov/arts. The IAC will use school funds, contributed funds, in-kind donations or services to finance 10 to 12 applications with grants up to $3,000.
“We’re asking the schools to develop a working partnership with a qualified artist of working arts organization to create a successful project,” Britsch said.
The program is open to any Indiana pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public, private or parochial school. Applications must be returned no later than Oct. 7. All projects must take place from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2011. Britsch said all project activities must take place during the school day and are not allowed to be for after school activities.
