Woman hits another woman with hammer because of steak, potatoes

A woman was hit over the head with a hammer at her home on the 1400 block of S. Washington Street shortly after midnight Tuesday.

The woman told police that she had come home and her roommate, 28-year-old Evelynn L. Keo, had started to prepare steaks for dinner. Keo asked her roommate if they had any potatoes to eat with their meal, and when the roommate said no, a heated argument started.

The woman told police that Keo “grabbed her shirt, then dragged her into another room where they continued to fight. She flicked a lit cigarette at her and then picked up a hammer and hit her on the forehead.”

The woman was left with a large bruise on the head and a ripped shirt.
Police said that Keo “admitted to hitting her roommate but said that she did it out of self defense, and she gave no other details.”

Keo was arrested for domestic battery and battery.

There was an ambulance on the scene, but it did not take the victim to the hospital. She was treated on the scene, said Lt. David Drake of the Bloomington Police Department .
