“Repo Men” is a testosterone-fueled dystopian view of the near future when people have artificial organ transplants and take out loans to pay for them. When you can’t pay, the repo men come and take them back.
The movie lives up to its premise. Several other movies have explored the same topic but seldom done it so well. Unlike most movies targeted at the young male audience, this one is smart with twists and turns that seem predictable but will spin your head at the end.
There’s plenty of action, gore and violence, and Jude Law does a lot of depressed soul searching. But there’s plenty of dark comedy to keep things from dragging down. Forest Whitaker and Liev Schreiber bring in clever performances to save what could be a bland and forgettable film. While not a classic, it’s fun, bloody and well worth watching.
