Map of car-pedestrian incidents on IU campus

(1) Feb. 22, 2001: Then-graduate student Shakila Shayan rides her bike into the side of an IU bus while crossing Seventh Street near Fess Avenue.

(2) Sept. 24, 2002: Music student Georgia Marriott is killed while riding her bike westbound on Atwater Avenue. Marriott turned into an intersection after a dump truck signaled to turn. She collided with the truck.

(3) Oct. 26, 2004: Then-sophomore Kohshiroh Harada is hospitalized after colliding with a B bus near the intersection of 10th Street and Jordan Avenue.

(4) Nov. 10, 2004: While on a Little 500 training ride, then-freshman Daniel Houchens is hit by a car near the intersection of 17th Street and Fee Lane. Houchens spent the rest of the year in rehabilitation but went on to be a part of the 2005 winning Little 500 team.

(5) Sept. 9, 2009: Sophomore Peter Duong is hit and killed while crossing Fee Lane near Foster Quad. Another student is hit near McNutt Quad.

(6) Sept. 11, 2009: Kexin Xiang, an IU student, is hit by a car while crossing 10th Street near the Herman B Wells Library.

(7) Sept. 16, 2009: A student is hit by a semitruck while at the intersection of Third and Mitchell streets.

(8) Sept. 25, 2009: Two pedestrians are hospitalized after a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Atwater and Fess Avenues.
