The iUnity ticket will be the IU Student Association’s next administration.
iUnity defeated opponent Kirkwood in the campus election on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to unofficial results released by Election Coordinator and senior Andrew Dahlen.
Students voted online at home or at polling stations around campus.
Dahlen said unofficial results indicated iUnity had 4,418 votes — or about 53 percent of the total — compared to Kirkwood’s 3,910 votes.
The iUnity ticket consists of President Elect and junior Michael Coleman, Vice President for Administration Elect and junior Peter SerVaas, Vice President for Congress Elect and junior Jen Peterson, and Treasurer Elect and sophomore Sierra Hsieh.
iUnity’s platform consists of iSustain, which will focus on implementing the Green initiative fund; iSafe, which will push for the installation of more crosswalks on campus; iBreak, which will push for a fall break for students; iBike and iBus, which will move forward the current administration’s bike rental and SMART bus GPS tracking systems, respectively; and iConnect, which will help support underrepresented student groups.
Senior and current Vice President for Administration Jack McCarthy said this year’s election took place earlier because the current administration wanted to smooth the transition process before inauguration day. McCarthy said the greater distance between election and inauguration will “give people more time for turnover.”
The Student Body Supreme Court will certify the official election results before iUnity’s inauguration April 15.
