Hoosiers down Sycamores on road

The IU softball (7-19) team snapped a 10-game losing streak as it beat Indiana State 2-1 in Terre Haute, Ind.

The Hoosiers' win extended the Sycamores' losing skid to eight games.

“We made some really nice plays all over the infield today to keep them off the bases,” IU coach Michelle Gardner said.

The Hoosiers had no errors for the second consecutive game.

Junior pitcher Sara Olson went 1-2 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored in the game.

“Sara did a great job today,” Gardner said  “She was under control and was very good at mixing up her pitches”.

Olson (4-8) had a complete game with 5 strikeouts and only allowed 1 earned run.

“Getting the early lead was huge for us today,” Gardner said.

Freshman infielder Madison Diederich also had a good game by going 2-3 in the win. The Hoosiers start Big Ten play this weekend in Iowa with a two-game set.

"This was a good win for us as we get ready for the Big Ten schedule,” Gardner said.
