WEST LAFAYETTE — A new study ranks Purdue University and Indiana University among the nation’s top 15 public universities in terms of the value of their endowments.
Purdue ranks ninth in the new rankings by the National Association of College and University Business Officers. Its endowment was worth about $1.45 billion last year.
IU came in at 11th in the rankings with an endowment valued at about $1.23 billion.
Eight hundred and forty-two U.S. colleges and universities took part in this year’s survey.
Topping the list of the top 15 schools in terms of their endowments was the University of Texas System, which had an endowment in 2009 worth about $12 billion.
The University of Michigan was second with an endowment worth about $6 billion.
