Laura Bush to speak at Ivy Tech fundraising dinner

BLOOMINGTON — Former first lady Laura Bush plans to speak at an Ivy Tech Community College fundraising dinner in Bloomington this April.

Bush will headline Ivy Tech's annual O'Bannon Institute for Community Service dinner April 8. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Ivy Tech Center for Civic Engagement, a Bloomington center that focuses on volunteerism, service learning and community involvement.

Ivy Tech-Bloomington Chancellor John Whikehart says the former first lady will discuss literacy and education at the event. Whikehart says Bush has led youth literacy initiatives and has dedicated her life to changing lives.
