IU professor becomes director for national research center

School of Education Professor Donald Hossler was appointed executive director of the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center by the National Student Clearinghouse.

Beginning Feb. 8, Hossler will oversee the center’s “operations, strategies and delivery of its public service mission,” according to an IU press release.

The Research Center is responsible for maintaining a registry of higher education student data. The center works with various school districts, the U.S. Department of Education, specific high schools and higher education institutions.

Hossler will continue his work at IU, splitting his time between teaching and researching.
Previously, Hossler has served as the vice chancellor and the associate vice president for Enrollment Services and chair of the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.

“We’re delighted to work in partnership with the National Student Clearinghouse for Don to assume the NSCRC executive director’s role,” said School of Education Dean Gerardo Gonzalez in the release. “He’s imminently qualified to lead the Clearinghouse’s national research efforts to develop data systems needed to implement policies and practices that enhance college preparation, access and success. His work will also help inform the preparation of future scholars in this area at IU and throughout the country.”
