A School of Education assistant professor will receive a 2009 Governor's Award for Tomorrow's Leaders in a ceremony next week in Indianapolis.
The award will be presented to Assistant Professor Kylie Peppler by the Office of the Governor of Indiana and the Indiana Humanities Council in a ceremony at the Indiana Statehouse on Tuesday.
The honor serves to "bring attention to excellence and achievement among a broad, diverse group of young leaders in Indiana," according to a press release.
Peppler has been a member of the School of Education faculty since Jan. 2008 and has since earned seven grants, published six articles and co-edited a book that was published earlier this year.
“I’m delighted that Kylie has been selected to receive this honor," Dean of the School of Education Gerardo Gonzalez said in the release. “She has already distinguished herself as a gifted scholar in her young career. Her work certainly exemplifies the excellence and achievement characteristic of young leaders who make a difference.”
The recipients of this award are selected by a jury of leaders from Indiana. In addition to the award, Peppler will also receive a $1,000 scholarship that can be used toward education or as a charitable donation, according to the release.
