A man was arrested on charges of raping his daughter’s friend on Monday.

Richard M. Kienzl, 43, of Hammond, Ind., is facing charges of criminal deviant conduct, a class B felony, which is the same charge as rape and furnishing alcohol to minors, a class B misdemeanor, said Bloomington Police Department Lt. David Drake.

During a phone interview Tuesday, Kienzl said he will be pleading not guilty.

The woman reported she woke up at about 1 a.m. to someone sexually assaulting her, whom she identified as Kienzl, Drake said. Her friends drove her to Bloomington Hospital, where BPD Det. Rick Crussen took the report, according to the police report.

The woman’s physical injuries were consistent with her statement of what had occurred.

The man asked the victim to not tell his daughter and also left the residence, where a party had been held earlier that night. The victim reported being highly intoxicated on beer and vodka, Drake said, reading from the report.

Crussen located Kienzl at an apartment nearby and brought him into the police station. Kienzl admitted to getting in bed with the victim but denied having any sexual contact with her, Drake said.
