'Glee' it up -- again

glee2

The young cast of "Glee" has done it again. Volume 2 of music from the hit FOX show features soul, young love, old classics and a fair amount of drama. Of course if you watch the show you would know this already.

These songs are redone works, but in my opinion they are nicely done. A few songs made me want to jump up and start to sing along, but I kept remembering that my room-mate would probably think that I was crazy or something.

This is from a high school drama geek/show choir member, but I really appreciated the voice quality of the singers. Sometimes I can’t believe that these people are teenagers.

Some songs are a bit of a let down if you’ve watched the show, as they just aren’t the same out of context. Some songs are a let down because you’ve heard the originals and you keep thinking about how they should sound.

One example for me is Van Halen’s “Jump.” I kept thinking about hearing the real “Jump” when I was at home when my dad would play his CD collection in the mornings.

From “Rolling Down The River” to “My Life Would Suck Without You,” there is less pop in Volume 2 compared to Volume 1, so that might be a relief to some people who will no doubt be forced to listen to it during the holidays when their younger siblings want to listen to the album from dawn to dusk.
