Alcohol and texting, depending on who is asked, can be the best or worst combination in recent history.
Some people love sending that drunk text. Most people don’t even remember doing it. In light of the entertainment value, there’s a Web site that captures all of it.
Texts From Last Night, also known as TFLN, is a site that captures that drunk, high, immoral or otherwise humorous text message. Launched in February 2009, it has already started to gain popularity with the college masses.
The site won’t show the entire phone number that sent the text, but it does show the area code. This way all of IU’s and the reader’s hometown texts are viewable via the Web.
It’s a fan-run site, so the only way new texts appear on the Web is when someone uploads a text they received. Texts can be sent to the site via iPhone, Blackberry or by typing in the text from the Web site’s homepage.
Students around campus tend to find this site entertaining.
“After having a night from hell, Texts From Last Night does a good job of making me feel better about myself,” sophomore Kayla Kelly said.
Other students like the site because they feel that they could potentially be on it.
“I’ve sent some crazy stuff I don’t remember,” sophomore Dakota Swafford said. “I probably enjoy receiving more than sending because it makes me realize that I’m not the only crazy one out of my group of friends.”
Another group of students, those who go to local bars, sometimes see more than they hear.
“The bars are really loud, so you can’t really hear any other people’s conversation, but if you look around, you know people are probably saying dumb things,” senior Adam Roeseler said.
The site is updated several times a day, so just because a text isn’t up at one point in the day doesn’t mean it will never be on the site.
Also, texts can be sorted by “Good Nights” and “Bad Nights,” so there are always different kinds of humor available.
Texts from all across the country can be found, and Bloomington is no exception.
“(812):McDonalds has hash browns for only a quarter! ... How many u want?” asked one Bloomington local.
“(812): All of them,” was the reply.
