Comic book pioneer Scott McCloud will speak at 7 p.m. today at the Whittenberger Auditorium in the Indiana Memorial Union.
The event is sponsored by Union Board’s Canvas Creative Arts Magazine. It is free and does not require a ticket.
McCloud started his comic book career with “Zot!” in 1984. He put a 16-part series with the original characters on his Web site in 2000. He started the McCloud tours to talk about the Web as an “infinite canvas,” according to a Union Board press release.
His book “Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art” was released in 1993. It was the first book to discuss the comic medium as a whole, according to the press release.
McCloud also wrote “Reinventing Comics and Making Comics,” as well as the comic series “Destroy!!” and some Superman scripts, according to the release.
