Hoosiers Fighting Hunger reaches 135,000 pounds in 15 days

After 15 days of collecting donations, the Hoosiers Fighting Hunger statewide food drive has collected more than 135,000 pounds of food, according to a press release.

"September is National Hunger Action Month and Hoosiers are answering the call," Sen. Dick Lugar said in the release. “With food banks experiencing more than 30 percent increased demand over last year, these donations will help stock the shelves and feed our neighbors.”

Kroger, Marsh and Walmart will continue to accept donations until Sept. 30. Each store has pre-bagged donations costing  $3, $5 and $10.
