INDIANAPOLIS — Former Vice President Al Gore, NBA Commissioner David Stern and Gov. Mitch Daniels are among the dignitaries from sports, politics, and possibly even Hollywood expected to attend the funeral of shopping mall magnate and Indiana Pacers co-owner Mel Simon.
Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh, Pacers President Larry Bird, and former Pacer Reggie Miller also are expected to attend the service Friday morning at Congregation Beth-El Zedeck in Indianapolis.
The service was set for the synagogue's Max and Mae Simon Sanctuary, named for Simon's parents.
The founder of Simon Property Group died Wednesday at age 82.
