Deaths of Brand, Simon lead IU to postpone address

IU is postponing its annual state of the university address following the deaths of former IU President Myles Brand and school benefactor Melvin Simon.

The University Faculty Council announced the postponement Thursday, saying that the deaths of Brand and Simon were a "great loss" for IU because both men helped transform the school.

Current IU President Michael McRobbie had been scheduled to deliver the address next Tuesday. His address has been moved to Oct. 12.
