MUNCIE – A lack of money is prompting organizers to call off a central Indiana festival featuring hot-air balloon races and air shows after 14 years.
The Summer Heat Festival had drawn thousands of people each year to the Muncie area.
The festival has cost about $100,000 to operate, and Muncie Visitors Bureau director James Mansfield said a rainout at last year’s event wiped out its reserves.
