Feeling under the weather?

The IU Health Center is a doctor's office in the middle of campus.

Every student enrolled in more than three credit hours is assessed a health fee of $105.76 per semester, which allows them access to the IU Health Center at a discounted rate. (Visits to the clinic cost $20, appointments with specialists start at $25.) The health center is located at the corner of Jordan Avenue and 10th Street, across from the Wells Library.

Only open on weekdays, the health center will see students with or without an appointment in the medical clinic. Also available are a pharmacy, lab tests, X-rays, eye clinic, gyn services, allergy shots, physical therapy and Counseling and Psychological Services.

Note: The IU Health Center only accepts Aetna Student Health insurance. If you don’t have Aetna, then the itemized receipt can be given to your insurance company to reimbursement. The pharmacy, however, does accept most prescription cards.

College is tough.

About 8 percent of IU students seek counseling at the health center’s Counseling and Psychological Services facility, located on the fourth floor of the IU Health Center building. Students can talk to professional counselors or seek psychiatric treatment for a number of mental health concerns. CAPS lists depression, anxiety, difficulties in interpersonal relationships, feelings of inadequacy, sexual issues, substance abuse and academic issues as reasons to seek help someone to talk to.
Also available are group-counseling sessions for those struggling with anxiety to alcohol and drug support, to sexual assault victims groups.

Through the health fee, students receive two free CAPS appointments each semester.

After the health fee visits students will be charged:
$20 for an individual full session
$10 for half session
$10 for group counseling visit

Psychiatry charges for students who have been assessed the health fee are:
$40 for first visit
$20 for each follow-up visit

Appointments are available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays.
