FORT WAYNE – A second giant sinkhole in less than a month in Fort Wayne has closed part of another street for repairs.
City Utilities spokesman Frank Suarez said the 4-foot-wide hole caved in Saturday evening when a motorist drove over the section of Clinton Street near Headwaters Park.
A broken pipe caused the sinkhole, though crews were still trying to pin down the exact problem as they worked to reopen the street. The hole was about three and a half feet deep when it first opened up.
A 15-foot deep sinkhole formed on a street near the city’s downtown last month after a 125-year-old section of brick sewer pipe broke.
