REAL Ticket to drop out of IUSA election

The REAL Ticket will officially drop out of the IU Student Association election Monday, ticket organizers said.

The ticket decided it was not prepared enough to participate in the election and have a successful run.

“We got started really late to campaign,” said junior Sam Miller, former REAL Ticket presidential candidate. “Other tickets were further underway.”

The executives also decided that they did not have the financial means to have an effective campaign.

We needed money and sponsors to compete and did not realize how great of a financial burden we would have during the election, Miller said.

Miller and Nick Pavilonis, former REAL Ticket vice presidential candidate, are both supporting the Red-Hot ticket. The ticket as a whole is split on who they are supporting.

Two of The REAL Ticket executives met with some of the Red-Hot Ticket executives, including presidential candidate Andrew Hahn, vice presidential candidate Mary Kelley and candidate for Treasurer Pat Rodgers. The REAL Ticket felt that Red-Hot had similar thoughts on the big issues at hand, Pavilonis said.
