Nickelback does it again

For a group of guys that have made so much money, one would think they could afford pants without holes.

Nickelback is one of the most polarizing bands in music. Some love them while others hate them with an unhealthy passion. But no matter what, most people know who they are or can at least recognize one of their hit singles like “How You Remind Me” or “Photograph.”

The band, hailing from up north in Canada, has had a steady stream of hits on the radio and have come a long way from their cover band roots. Their latest release Dark Horse, follows 2005’s All the Right Reasons, which more than a handful of hit singles that have saturated the airwaves for more than three years.

Dark Horse features the new single “Gotta Be Somebody”. It’s a kind of love song that points out the fact that no one wants to be a alone and that there is someone out there.

But as to be expected from Nickelback, the album isn’t full of cheesy love songs talking about getting the girl they want, but rather finding love in general.

The album also features an handful of tracks with the harder rock sound about drinking and being with friends like “This Afternoon.” Here lead singer Chad Kroeger sings relatable lyrics like, “Drink up / Fall down/ We’ll do it all again”.

Many bands tend lose their signature sound over the years when they try to mix it up, but that hasn’t happened yet to Nickelback.

Overall, Dark Horse has a solid rock feeling and doesn’t lose the sound that we’ve come to know and recognize as Nickelback. They have once again captured the relatable feelings of holding onto love and having a good time in the music they produce.
