Your ideas. Your opinions. Your suggestions.
The IU Student Association will be hosting its first “Town Hall Meeting” at 7:30 p.m. today in State Room East inside the Indiana Memorial Union. Students are welcome and will have the chance to voice their opinions on what they would like to see their student government improve.
Billy Bennett, chief of staff for IUSA, said he hopes as many students as possible come and share their ideas, otherwise it will not be as effective.
Throughout the forum, topics may stem from, but are not limited to, campus transportation issues, tax-free textbooks, athletic matters, weekend IU Health Center hours and book buyback policies at campus bookstores, according to an IUSA press release.
Along with taking suggestions and listening to student input, IUSA will be summarizing the progress they have made so far this year.
“IUSA always has the students’ best interest in mind, and we are always looking out for the best input,” Bennett said. “We need verification for what we are doing, and this is the perfect opportunity.”
With an IU student enrollment of about 40,000, IUSA President Luke Fields admitted there are things going on of which IUSA is not aware, and the organization wants to do its best to hear as many student concerns as possible.
Bennett hopes students that have an opinion will show up, and he pointed out students will have easy access to the IUSA executive board.
“Our mission is to make the student experience better,” Fields said. “They just need to let us know what they want.”
