Police find body of missing man in crashed SUV

MITCHELL, Ind. – Authorities said a body found in a wrecked sport utility vehicle is that of a Bedford man who had been missing for nearly a week.

Police said workers from a neighboring business found the wreck Tuesday afternoon in a ravine just off State Road 37 in Mitchell, about 30 miles south of Bloomington.

Authorities identified the body as that of 24-year-old Joshua Aslinger of Bedford.

Family members said he had been missing since last Wednesday night, when he left Mitchell in his SUV to visit his girlfriend in Bedford.

Family members had posted about 200 fliers in Bedford and Mitchell, seeking information on Aslinger.

Lawrence County Coroner John Sherrill said an autopsy will be conducted Wednesday. He declined to comment on a cause of death.
