Candidate profile Governor: Andrew Horning

Libertarian candidate for governor Andy Horning answers a question from debate moderator Tom Cochrun during the final gubernatorial debate Tuesday night at IU Auditorium.

GOVERNOR

Andrew Horning (L)

Age:
50

Education: B.A. from IU (’90); Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (’90)

Experience
: “I have been actively fighting politicians/running for public office just since 1996. But I should have started much sooner. I’ve been a taxpayer, tax-serf and over-regulated citizen since 1971, after all, and I saw what politicians did to others even before that. I warned of our upcoming property problems starting in 1999 and led the “taxpayer revolt” on July 4, 2007, when politicians (including our governor) were actively ignoring our foreclosures and problems. I first warned of credit/monetary policy collapse in 2000 and in fact made that the cornerstone of my 2000 gubernatorial campaign. I’ve been in too many organizations/actions to list.”

Top priorities if elected: “It’s all written down and proven to work: sound monetary policy via Article 11 of the Indiana Constitution, real education reform by strictly following Article 8 of the Indiana Constitution, real legal reform (including restoring jury rights and powers, and perhaps more than a few judicial impeachments) by strict adherence to the Rule of Law described in both federal and state constitutions (pay special attention to Article 1, Section 25).”

Why you are running? “I am the only candidate who has any intention of honoring the oath of office, which is to enforce the constitutions of both Indiana and the United States as written. Our politicians have over time completely disregarded the laws that protect us from them. They have gutted our social/voluntary associations, replaced them with political bureaucracy and have caused great harm to our independence, liberty, economy and security. Those chickens are coming home to roost as you read this. Somebody has to oppose this self-immolation. So here I am.”
