Brunner's 485 yards takes Chippewas past Hoosiers 37-34

Senior kicker Austin Starr sits on the bench with a towel draped over his head before the start of the game against Central Michigan at on Saturday on Memorial Stadium. Starr missed his only field goal attempt in the 37-34 loss to the Chippewas.

Completely outmatched through the air, the IU football team’s defense couldn’t stop Central Michigan’s backup quarterback Brian Brunner as he threw for 485 yards and four touchdowns.

Brunner led his Chippewas to a 37-34 non-conference victory against the Hoosiers on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

The loss was IU’s sixth of the season as their record drops to 3-6.

Brunner’s 485 yards are the third most the Hoosiers have ever let up all time.

IU’s defense was outmatched as Brunner repeatedly spiraled in completions under the Hoosiers down-field secondary. The senior connected with seven different receivers.

The Hoosiers return to action next weekend when they welcome Big Ten foe Wisconsin to Bloomington.
