Sidetracked

Artist: Of Montreal
Song: “An Eluardian Instance”

Of Montreal expand their manufactured sound with “An Eluardian Instance.” A drum machine and rapid bass beats left me wondering if even the whining trumpets were electronic. This song is more reminiscent of vocalist Kevin Barnes’ solo work  than tunes the whole band is known for.

Artist: Fonzworth Bentley featuring Kanye West and Andre 3000
Song:
“Everybody”

Although the video is eerily similar to Andre 3000’s “Hey Ya!” the song itself is quite different. On the track, Bentley, West and Andre position themselves as a Temptations-like soul group, updated with a hip-hop vibe and beat. The result is a groovy, catchy tune that’s perfect to listen to when you’re not quite ready to party hard core but still ready to get
down.

Artist: Wait til Wednesday
Song: “Since We’re All Human, Let’s At Least Act Humane”

Hard-hitting Indianapolis-based political hardcore outfit Wait til Wednesday’s “Since We’re All Human, Let’s At Least Act Humane” issues a scathing indictment on American consumerism, backed by powerful guitar and bass and intense drums. The song is not for the faint of heart.
