Library should allow voter registration

As an alumnus of IU (undergraduate and graduate) and a former employee, I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the administration of the Wells Library.

After spending two weeks in the atrium of the School of Education registering voters, I requested permission from the library to allow me to register voters there. The number of users of that library is always impressive, and I felt it would be an excellent choice.

I assured them in my original request that there would be no political material of any kind offered or displayed. The only goal was to register voters. Much to my disappointment, they refused.

As the right to vote is such a basic right of a citizen, how any University office would not strongly support and encourage our students, staff and visitors to register is quite difficult to understand.
