It’s unfortunate that the “political” director of the IU Republicans doesn’t know the difference between a monarchy and a socialized republic. The first takes your money and land and keeps them, allowing certain citizens to starve. The latter takes a part of your money and uses it to feed those who are starving. One could call it “institutionalized charity.”
However, what Justin Hill is arguing for (compare to monarchy) is a “freedom” for those who have power and money to obtain more and buy Jaguars, while others are neither educated nor fed because of financial problems, and their “God-given” rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are forgotten like the exhaust of that sports car.
But don’t worry, global warming is just a big fat lie made up by thousands of liberal scientists around the world, so drive that car down the street to get Fluffy her pedicure.
Hill has one thing right: “Government is the problem.” Luckily for all of us, after eight years, it’s finally going to change. Speaking of evading responsibility and passing the blame, Hill accuses liberals of “playing the politics of fear” by making up something that doesn’t even exist: global warming. Sounds familiar ... by the way, did we ever find those WMDs?
The title of Hill’s article references his statement that “rather than teach a man to fish, liberalism just gives you the fish.” Of course, this must mean that conservatives teach you how to fish, right? But, I think it’s more like ... One man exploits thousands of Asian children by paying them pennies on the hour to make fishing rods, which are in turn sold to Americans. Unfortunately, many can’t read the instruction manual and others can’t even afford them.
One last issue: Hill states that “liberalism constantly sways with the political wind of the season.” I think the word you’re looking for to describe this tendency is “evolution” or maybe “change.” Unfortunately, most of the Republican Party doesn’t believe in the first word, but they gladly adopted the second when it became popular. Maybe there is hope for Republicans after all.
