WELCOME BACK

IU sophomore pledges Tim Hightower and Matthew Cole carry a couch they just bought for $185.00 on Monday afternoon into Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity on Third St.

Whether you are a wide-eyed freshman or a victory-lapper, there is something for everyone – or at least free food – during Welcome Week. Here's a list of what's going on:

Wednesday

Residence Halls open, 8 a.m.
Freshman Induction Ceremony, 3 and 5 p.m. at IU Auditorium. Faculty, students and staff will commemorate the class of 2012 in the traditional ceremony followed by a picnic behind the Lilly Library and Woodburn Hall.
IUBeginnings Celebration, 4 to 4:45 p.m. at the Fine Arts Building, Room 015. Students involved in IUBeginnings meet up to embark on their adventures.
Transfer Tip-Off, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Fine Arts Building, Room 015. Transfer students can get information on Welcome Week and Bloomington.
Off-Campus Freshman Meeting, 6:30 p.m. in Woodburn Hall, Room 120

Thursday
Hutton Honors College Freshman Meeting, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Indiana Memorial Union, Alumni Hall
Academic Orientation Events, 3 p.m.
CultureFest, 4:30 p.m. at the IU Auditorium (moves outside at 5:15 p.m.) Listen to live music, get a henna tattoo and eat tons of free food all in the name of culture.
CultureFest After-Party, 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the IU Art Museum. Students new and old are welcome to sip coffee samples from around the world and snack on chocolate, fusing the event with art and music.

Friday
Required Academic Advising Meetings, 9 or 10:30 a.m.
Work-study Job Fair, 9 to 11 a.m. at the IMU, Alumni Hall
Non-work-study Job Fair, 1 to 3 p.m. at the IMU, Alumni Hall
Campus Open Houses and Fairs, 12 to 2 p.m.
Traditions and Spirit of IU, 4:30 p.m. at Assembly Hall. It’s the biggest pep rally you’ve ever seen complete with prize giveaways.
Taste of the Union, 5:30 to 10 p.m. at the IMU. Free dinner on the Union as well as wall-climbing, bowling, Guitar Hero and more.
Freshman Shabbat, 6:30 p.m. at the Helene G. Simon Hillel Center, 730 E. Third St.
Freshman Shabbat
Dinner, 7:30 p.m. at the Helene G. Simon Hillel Center, 730 E. Third St.
Midnight Madness, 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Buses will load at residence halls and drive to Wal-Mart.

Saturday


Lupe Fiasco, 7:30 p.m. at the IU Auditorium. Union Board and Residence Halls Association present the hip-hop artist to kick off the year right.

Sunday
FaithFest, 1 to 3 p.m. at Dunn Meadow. The diverse religious groups of IU will offer information, food and prizes.

Monday

New Student Service Day, 1 to 4 p.m. Meet at the IMU Whittenberger Auditorium.
Hillel Opening BBQ, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Helene G. Simon Hillel Center, 730 E. Third St.
