Sidetracked

Sidetracked

Artist: David  Vandervelde
Song: “Someone Like You”

Vandervelde is his name and smoothness is his game. Vandervelde provides noteworthy independent music that’s not flimsy or weak, but strong and vibrant. Easily the best alternative music that has erupted on the scene in some time, he displays an elaborate composition of electric guitars, sluggish drumming and romantic lyrics with the occasional drug reference. All in all, it’s very chill.

Artist: Trapt
Song: “Who’s Going Home With You Tonight?”

Hard rock/alternative band Trapt’s first single off their third album Only Through the Pain, has all the markings of a Trapt masterpiece – loud guitar, quality production and lead singer Chris Brown’s  distinctly emotive voice. The music rocks all the way through, and the magnetic chorus will have you singing along for days.

Artist: Hockey
Song: “Too Fake”

This Redlands, Calif., quartet’s track is the same as anyone’s ignorant, yet self-gratifying story on life. The song represents the travesty of trying too hard, but delivers the message in a fresh, upbeat fashion. The track features a great hook, “Look out, I’m just too fake for the world,” but then also spits out constant offbeat ramblings that sermonize about “Using your life for yourself rather than for someone else.”
