Artists display work at City Hall

The Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District is hosting “The Artists of Fourth Street.”
The exhibition began July 21 and will be on display through Aug. 28 in the City Hall Atrium. “The Artists of Fourth Street” includes a sample of works from nine different artists who are also members of the organizing committee for the Fourth Street Festival of Arts and Crafts, according to the City of Bloomington Web site.
BEAD is the City of Bloomington’s arts district that promotes the downtown’s numerous cultural and entertainment amenities, enhancing the city’s local economic landscape, according to “The Artists of Fourth Street” press release.
According to the City of Bloomington Web site, “The Artists of Fourth Street” is meant to emphasize the spirit of the upcoming 32nd annual Fourth Street Festival of Arts and Crafts which will take place Aug. 30-31 in Bloomington.
“The Artists of Fourth Street” pieces range from nature-inspired weavings by Martina Celerin, photography by Kyle Spears and David Goodrum and a mosaic made from recycled materials by Cappi Phillips, according to the press release.
Also on display are paintings by Dawn Adams, a watercolor collage by Bonnie Gordon-Lucas and feather craftwork by Karen Cherrington. According to the press release, works from the late T. Scot Halpin, who was a frequent exhibitor and committee member of the Fourth Street Festival as well as designer of the 2008 festival T-shirt, are also included.
“Scot’s family and friends are delighted to see his artwork live on, going out into the world as this year’s Festival T-shirt,” said Robin Halpin Young in the press release.
According to the City of Bloomington Web site, an artist reception is scheduled for 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, in the City Hall Atrium. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. The exhibit can be viewed during regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday–Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
