People of all ages are gathering for a night of live music, military displays and a fireworks display.
The 13th annual Picnic with the Pops celebration on the campus of Bloomington’s Ivy Tech Community college will take place Saturday, June 28. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the Bloomington Pops Orchestra and Chorus go on stage at 8 pm.
The event includes a children’s parade, a military color guard, a salute to the armed forces and a “fabulous fireworks finale,” according to a press release.
There will be a variety of food and drink vendors, several pre-concert activities such as a children’s area, and live music by the Bloomington Community Band and the “Spirit of Freedom” Jazz combo.
Parking is available on site. There is also handicap parking and facilities as well as shuttle transportation available from the parking lot to the event.
