Administration appears confused

I am disappointed to read that the IUB administration is not fully supportive of The First Nations Educational and Cultural Center.\nApparently Native Americans, Native Hawaiians and Alaskan Natives have not been given full administrative support. My understanding was that IUB wants more diversity. Being supportive would include enough money to fund a director and a house. How sad ... to pretend that IU is patriotic, yet the first peoples on our land are scraping for space and support. Thanks go to Rebecca Riall and other Board Members, Nathen Steininger and others at The First Nations Educational and Cultural Center for their work and persistence. Shame goes to Charles Sykes for not understanding what a true ally is. Allies do not sit back and rest on their laurels while watching others fight their own fights without advocating for them. Sykes’ quotes are cold and heartless. I hope that better support comes from elsewhere in IU, or that Sykes can step up and prove that his stated wish for diversity is real and show his sincerity by getting needed funding. IUB has money for sports and surreal salaries for top administrators and faculty ... what about funding for Native Americans on campus?
