IDS should not judge what it doesn’t know

I do not know who wrote the article “Failing our athletes,” but I was disappointed that such an article was put in our paper. I feel that if someone is going to put an article in the paper they need to know more about the subject than a few statistics on playing facts. If the person was to have a knowledge of a day in the life of a student-athlete, then the article would be acceptable. Seeing how the article was written without a clear indication of what it’s like being a student-athlete and just their opinion of what they think should be is ridiculous. Now, I am a previous athlete, and that is why I am so bothered about this article. I would never publish or write an article as if I knew the life of an editor for I have no knowledge of it. I think that this article not only gives a poor representation of the student-athletes but also of our athletic system.
