Bowl For Kids’ Sake deadline approaches

Students only have eight more days to register for the 20th annual IU Bowl For Kids’ Sake.\nBowl For Kids’ Sake is a fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Indiana during which teams pledge to collect $500 for the drive. The event culminates with a bowling celebration on Feb. 27 and 28 at Suburban Lanes, 2634 N. Walnut St.\nTeams can register for the fundraiser at iubowl.kintera.org. \n“Register as a team captain and then recruit four to five people to be on a team,” said Stephen Reuille, co-coordinator of the IU Bowl For Kids’ Sake committee. “Each team will pledge to raise $500 or more.”\nThe deadline to register is Feb. 20, but donations will always be accepted. \nAll profits will go directly to Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Indiana. Big Brothers Big Sisters is a non-profit organization that matches adults in the community with children in the community to mentor, said junior Leitia Webb, member of the IU Bowl For Kids’ Sake committee.\nEach adult-child match costs about $600, so each team is close to funding one match, said junior Megan Coomes, co-coordinator of the IU Bowl For Kids’ Sake committee. \nThe goal this year is to raise $30,000, and 56 different teams had already registered and pledged to raise $500 as of Friday, Coomes said. The committee is still looking for volunteers, and anyone interested can e-mail Reuille at sreuille@indiana.edu.
