Transportation frustration

Since the semester started I have noticed that the number of students relying on the bus service has increased. Last week, while waiting on the bus, I heard a fellow student say that he had to wait 20 minutes longer becuase the bus he was trying to catch was too full. A few days later I got on the 6 bus into campus. Because it was so full, I was standing right next to the driver and heard the conversation he was having with both the back-up bus and transit. The driver, Jack, asked the other bus if all the passengers were able to get on and the other driver told him that, no, they were not. Being thoughtful of the fact that the students were needing to get into campus at a certain time, Jack got on the radio and told transit that he thought they might want to send out another bus. I was angered to hear transit’s response, “Jack, we don’t pay you to think.” and that was all that was said on the matter. I am angered because transit does not see the reasons for bringing out another bus as well as the fact that they were so rude to the driver. Jack was looking out for the students waiting on the bus and the response from transit was uncalled for, considering every bus driver could hear it as well as the students who were standing near the front of the buses.
