Peace through who?

I am writing in response to Chase Cooper's “Peace through Limbaugh” article (Sept. 19). I have to say, when I began reading this article I thought it was a joke. I mean, come on, who, in their right mind would ever consider giving such a powerful and meaningful award to a person like Rush Limbaugh? To me the Nobel Peace Prize should go to someone who has actually made the world a better place. This award invokes thoughts of Doctors Without Borders, Martin Luther King Jr., the Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa, UNICEF and other people and organizations that have dedicated themselves entirely to the improvement of our world and lives. This honor should be bestowed upon a person or organization that others can look up to, a role model; not some middle-aged man who is addicted to prescription pain killers and afraid of anything that isn’t white, male and upper-middle class. So why, in a world that is inclined to discriminate, would anyone give an award that promotes acceptance and selflessness to man who is too narrow-minded to see past his own microphone?
