Live Jazz\nWhen: 5:30 to 8 p.m. today\nWhere: Bear’s Place\nMore information: Jazz Fables Concert Series presents The Jazz Fables Quintet, the group whose original members started the concert series. There is a $5 cover charge.

Artist Lecture\nWhen: 7 p.m. today\nWhere: Fine Arts Building, Room 102\nMore information: School of Fine Arts presents visiting artist SunTek Chung, who will give a public lecture today. Chung constructs large-scale sets and props with full photographic backdrops, which can take an average of five months to create. The event is free.

Awkward Silence Comedy\nWhen: 9 p.m. today\nWhere: Frangipani Room, Indiana Memorial Union\nMore information: IU’s only short-form/long-form hybrid improv comedy troupe returns for another performance. The event is free and open to the public.

WIUX CD Release Party\nWhen: 8 p.m. Friday\nWheRE: 815 E. Eight St.\nMore information: WIUX will be hosting a CD release party for The Alarmists (Calm Down). The event is part of the second annual Pledge Day, in which viewers are asked to call in from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and pledge donations to the station. The show is free to the public. Other bands performing will be Amo Joy!, Mouthbreather and The Delicious.

Gallery Exhibition Opening Reception\nWhen: 5:30 to 7 p.m., Friday\nWhere: John Waldron Arts Center\nMore information: During the month of November, the Bloomington Area Arts Council is proud to host paintings by 28 local watercolor artists. Transparent watercolor is the medium, and all art lovers will certainly enjoy the exhibit.
