With over 36 million Americans living in poverty, and over a million homeless on any given night, hunger and homelessness are huge issues across the nation. The driving force behind this severe problem is the lack of affordable housing that plagues the U. S. It is impossible for a family earning minimum wage to find an affordable apartment in most cities, which propagates chronic homelessness. \nA solution has been proposed in U.S. House Bill 2895, which creates a national housing trust fund, enabling those living in poverty to find a way off the streets. This bill creates additional funding for affordable housing projects across the nation. \nThe solution is now in the voter’s hands, and as a concerned citizen and student, I am in support of House Bill 2895 and urge the public to call and write their elected representatives urging them to vote for this piece of crucial legislation.
