Classes on Friday? Getting up for an 8 a.m. class? Waaaahh? Folks, this is the real world we are preparing for - a five-day work week with most jobs starting at 8 a.m. My prior schools (University of Texas and Texas A&M) had classes on Friday, and I believe it was good discipline. You want a quality education and a prestigious degree, but you don’t want to be inconvenienced to work for it? You can’t have it both ways. I am disappointed that the IDS continually panders to the party crowd in its writing without seriously addressing alcoholism issues which will linger on for many students long after their four years at IU. Any attempt to encourage responsibility is always seen as a limit on fun. There is a deeper level of enjoyment in accomplishing goals that are difficult and require some level of discipline, as most athletes will attest. We are adults. Shouldn’t we prepare to act like it?
Grow up, people
