I can’t believe how pretentious Brian McFillen’s column (“News blues,” June 14) was. “The Sopranos” happens to be a very deep, profound show with incredible artistry going into its writing and production – it is not to be dismissed as mere fluff. Anyone who actually watches the show won’t need me to explain this, but McFillen should know it since he’s apparently too good to stoop to the level of watching it. Brian, you act like it’s impossible to stay abreast of the news and enjoy pop culture at the same time. Well, you’re dead wrong, and the fact that I spent last Sunday watching “The Sopranos” finale (which was one of the most interesting and thought-inspiring episodes in the history of television shows, by the way) doesn’t make me some kind of ignorant peon.
