Herbert to address U.S. Department of State

IU President Adam Herbert will address a U.S. State Department conference today in Washington, D.C., on the role of American universities on American public diplomacy issues.\nThe conference, titled "Private Sector Summit on Public Diplomacy," began Tuesday night with a White House reception. Herbert is the only university president scheduled to speak.\n"At Indiana University, we are attempting to advance our nation's public diplomacy in multiple ways," Herbert said in a statement. "We are internationalizing our curriculum and expanding our research efforts through outstanding area-studies programs. We are offering over 70 foreign languages, expanding our recruitment of international students, enhancing our international outreach efforts with overseas businesses, institutions and governments. We also are expanding the number of students participating in our study-abroad programs"
