Homecoming week comes as quickly as it goes. But for those planning and promoting the events, homecoming has been in the making for months.\nMembers of both the Student Alumni Association and the IU Alumni Association join forces to put on several activities during homecoming, all in the name of University pride. \n"The SAA works on trying to promote and bring out the students to the events, and the IUAA works on bringing out the alumni," said Student Alumni Association graduate assistant Erin Datteri. \nYell Like Hell, which takes place the Thursday of homecoming week, the parade and pep rally Friday and the alumni lunch Saturday are just a few of the events for both alumni and current students to enjoy.\n"The main goal is to get the students and the alumni together," said senior Brittany Wallis, vice president of special events for SAA. \nNikki Bland, director of programs of the IU Alumni Association, said that while most of the events are IU traditions, there are new additions to the 2006 homecoming week. \n"This is the 48th homecoming parade and the alumni homecoming lunch's 19th year," Bland said. "But this is the first year of the crimson glow, which we hope will get the sorority, fraternity and residence housing to spread the school colors." \nAs part of the crimson glow promotion, SAA and IUAA will hand out crimson lights for people to hang in their rooms in an effort to create a red radiance during the week. \n"We're really trying to get the dorms involved this year with the crimson glow," said sophomore John Greco, director of promotions for Residence Halls Association. "The RHAs have been really receptive and helpful in helping us do this." \nAs homecoming week approaches and the planning and preparation give way to the events and activities themselves, all those involved in putting the week together are excited to see the finished product. \n"I'm very excited for homecoming week, especially because the last two weeks have been huge (for the football team)," said junior Phil Blomeke, director of events for the SAA, after wins against Illinois and Iowa.\n"It has been pretty hectic," Greco said, "but I think it'll be worth it to see the students out there at the events"
