FORT WAYNE -- A Fort Wayne man convicted of killing his estranged wife's boyfriend has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.\nDuring Friday's sentencing hearing, Daniel Favela, 28, maintained his innocence in the Feb. 18 murder of 22-year-old Jeffrey Kramer of Churubusco, Ind.\nFavela, who was convicted last month of murder and using a firearm to commit murder in Kramer's killing, told the court he was sorry Kramer was dead but said they had the wrong man.\nKramer had been dating Favela's estranged wife, Nicole Favela, when police said Favela shot him four to six times as he sat in his car in the parking lot of Northcrest Elementary School.\nKramer's relatives testified during the hearing and begged Allen Superior Judge Fran C. Gull to sentence Favela to the maximum 70 years in prison.\n"You murdered (Jeffrey) in cold blood," said Kramer's mother, Kathleen Kramer. "You didn't even look us in the eye. You're not sorry. You're proud of what you did."\nFavela said not all the facts surrounding Kramer's death are known, and that he will appeal the conviction. During last month's trial, his attorney, Nikos Nakos, suggested that Nicole Favela -- not his client was the possible killer.
